Sensors are particularly useful when the question depends on time. They can add evidence between visits, support before-and-after comparison and help identify where a focused inspection may be more useful. Accurate placement, device health, evidence freshness and room context remain essential.

A sensor cannot see hidden leaks, inspect insulation, confirm an extractor fault, identify every source of moisture or measure every aspect of indoor air quality. Similar readings can arise from different combinations of occupancy, weather, heating, ventilation, building fabric and maintenance conditions.

Responsible interpretation therefore separates observation, interpretation, limitation and recommendation. Environmental evidence should support resident guidance and professional judgement without presenting an indication as a confirmed diagnosis.
